The Government of Japan will award scholarships to Sri Lankan Students under the Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) Scholarship Program 2023, in the categories of;

Postgraduate Research,

Undergraduate

College of Technology

Selection of candidates will be done through an examination conducted jointly by the Embassy of Japan and the Ministry of Education.

For the Postgraduate Research Program, those who have completed 16 years of school education with the standard study period of three years or more at universities or equivalent educational institutions are eligible to apply.

For the Undergraduate/College of Technology Programs, those who have passed G.C.E. A/L, only in Mathematics stream, desirably (but not necessarily) with a basic knowledge of Japanese, are eligible to apply. The applicant can apply for ONE SCHEME ONLY, either for the Undergraduate Program or the College of Technology Program.

Prospective candidates are kindly requested to forward their applications to Ministry Education, No 18, Ward Place, Colombo 7 on or before 3rd June, 2022. Application forms can only be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Education.
